Fall Bucket List: 10 Simple Things to Do Before Winter Arrives šš
Is there anything better than fall? The crisp mornings, colorful leaves, cozy sweaters, football, apple cider, pumpkin everythingā¦the list goes on! Thereās something about this time of year that makes us want to slow down and enjoy the little things. And thereās actually a reason fall can feel so comforting. Seasonal traditions, familiar routines, cooler weather, and spending time with the people we love can all create feelings of nostalgia, connection, and comfort. Before winter arrives and weāre all hibernating under blankets on the couch, hereās a little fall bucket list to help you soak up as much of the season as possible!
Let's start with the obvious: pumpkins!Ā Head to a pumpkin patch and pick out the perfect one or if you're like us, spend way too much time debating which pumpkin has the best shape. Then comes the fun part: carving! Carving pumpkins with my son has become one of our favorite fall traditions. Thereās something about scooping out all the gooey pumpkin guts and trying to create the perfect jack-oā-lantern that makes Halloween feel a little more special. And this year, we're going to try something new: baking the pumpkin seeds we scoop out!Ā Pumpkin seeds are packed with nutrients, including protein, magnesium, and healthy fats, so instead of tossing them in the trash, weāre giving them a chance to become a crunchy fall snack. Who knowsāwe may even discover a new family tradition!
Of course, fall isn't just about pumpkins. Take advantage of the beautiful weather and go for a walk to enjoy the changing leaves, visit a local fall festival or farmers market, have a cozy movie night, bake something with apples or pumpkin, or gather the family around the table for a good old-fashioned game night. Even something as simple as sitting outside with a warm drink and enjoying the cooler weather can be a great way to slow down. Getting outside, moving your body, connecting with others, and taking a break from our phones and busy schedules are all simple ways to support our overall well-being, and none of them require a gym membership!
Most importantly, make a little time for the things that make fall feel special to you.Ā Maybe it's an annual pumpkin carving night, a favorite fall recipe, a longer walk with your fur baby, a trip to the pumpkin patch, or simply putting on your favorite sweatshirt and watching a movie with your family. You don't have to check every item off the list (and there's certainly no prize for doing so!). Fall is short, so enjoy it while it's here. Get outside, make some memories, try something new, eat the pumpkin seeds, and embrace all the cozy, messy, delicious, and fun moments that come with the season. Before we know it, we'll be trading pumpkins for snow boots! š
